Winter Trends

Are you thinking about winter trends 2020? With the calendar officially now in winter mode, time to bask in the sun. And while we don’t always relish ourselves in cold weather, time to ditch your floaty dresses for coat and boots has been a real revelation.

With summer now nothing but a distant memory, let’s start thinking about getting our new-season aesthetics in order.

Oversized sweaters and the fringe clothes may have dominated our wardrobes over the last few months, you may well need to gear up yourself – and your wardrobe – up for what looks set to be a seriously sassy season.

Winter Trends will welcome new styles and contrasts. In one corner, designers are paying homage to the style which is inspired by foreign countries. On the other side, a free spirit can be felt in the air. But these two influences share a common denominator-they celebrate the woman of today, rather than creating an impossible ideal of what she should be.

With the new season, comes the responsibility of creating a stylish new wardrobe. So if you are among the ones searching for new winter trends, you have landed to the right page. If you’re curious about what exactly are the trends of the winter season. From thigh-high boots to fiery red ensembles, here is our guide to this season’s best winter trends. If you haven’t already, incorporate them into your winter wardrobe STAT!

So amidst the madness, what trends do you think will prevail for the season?

1.CHECKS-Winter Trends 2020

Checks come in the wardrobe staple and will never go out of style! Rock your winters by rocking this evergreen trend with shirts, checked cardigans, gingham dresses and checked shirts.

2.UNAPOLOGETIC FLORALS

Do you also agree that florals have ever been off-trend? We think not, but for the next season, they will be more extra than ever, with full floral looks – including face masks. Opt for styles with a nude base colour and bright, decorative petals splashed across. So we are so happy that we’re taking our Summer florals with us to the next season. The only difference being that the pretty peach numbers have been replaced with dark blooms. They stole the show on the runways around the world, and closer to home.

3.GIANT BAGS

After our seasons being spent on tiny bags, keeping only our very essential items hoping that our phones would also fit in, it’s time to switch to giant bags for this season.

4.CLASHING CHECKS

Last season we saw clashing prints or polka dots with stripes but next season we are all re-investing in checks by just be mixing the colours together a bit and wearing rocking checks.

5.MAJOR RUFFLES

What comes to your mind the moment you hear the word ruffles? Is it semi-sheer pieces in fair hues in pastel pinks or blues or the movie scenes from summer-set 50s novel.

6.WAIST BELTS

While a cinched waist is a timeless attraction, it’s one which has fallen off the radar in high fashion circles due to the ever-growing fondness for a loose, undefined silhouette. Next season, however, it will be changed, and we’ll be reaching for our belts to wrap around everything, from knits to coats and everything in-between.

7.BROWN OUTERWEAR

If you had your eye on fashion week this season, you likely noticed the tonal camel hues adorning the outfits of the street style set. Jump forward to the end of the year, and that same base shade gets better in sweeping midi coats.

8.POINTED TOES

If you don’t know what we’re talking about, then you should perhaps read up on your pointed toes footwear for the coming season, because next season’s footwear focus is all about the pointed toe.

9.KNITWEAR

Once the uniform of middle-aged golfers, argyle knitwear has had its highs and lows in the fashion world. But, according to this season’s most popular runways, it’s officially back in favour. Strictly saved for jumpers and cardigans, pair them with chic skirts for cosy days in the office.

Androgyny has managed to capture the attention of the world. This winter, be a lady boss with beautiful pantsuits and menswear-inspired styles. These outfits are super stylish, comfortable and can be tailored according to your body type.

10. Red Is Back Again

Thanks to the showstoppers at fashion events which largely focused on shades of red – we can’t stop thinking about this gorgeous hue. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got Deepika Padukone making a strong case for it. For an everyday look, we’re picturing a bright red sweater, paired with basic blue jeans and leather ankle boots.

11.CORDUROY SUITING

Corduroy has been making a subtle comeback over the last six months or so, but double that time-frame and we’re predicting it will have truly reached the masses. Opt for loose-fitting incarnations for a casual look, and high-waisted flared trousers with a nipped-waist jacket of an evening.

12.THE NEW PUFFER

The puffer jackets are rarely off-the-menu right now, but just as it looked set to become a slightly stagnant market the off-duty look is entering new realms as next season it becomes a viable dressed-up option. Whether it’s cropped and metallic, wrapped and tonal or mid-length and cinched, freezing temperatures will pose no problem on nights out next winter and we already can’t wait.

13.SEASONAL SPARKLE

Surprise surprise, 2019’s party season will welcome a whole host more sparkle. But unlike last year’s sexy, almost predictable takes on the trend, next season sequins undertake a slightly more thoughtful aesthetic. From draped dresses to fringing and portraiture, Christmas-party-dressing looks set to be a whole lot more interesting.

Sustainable Approach To Skin Care

Published

skincare

In a world where words like climate change and sustainable living are moving beyond all the clever captions, it’s time to look closely at your day-to-day beauty routine. Just like in the fashion world, there’s a movement which is towards green beauty practices for skincare that definitely add a glow of goodness to your face and relaxation to your soul. Dermatologist and aesthetic physicians say that one of the simplest ways to cut plastic from your skincare is to be very mindful and careful of the packaging. “Try buying products which are packed in recycled plastic and paper. Reuse and refill products. Avoid tiny bottles which are stacked up in the bathroom just because they look cute. Recycle.”

Other than the usual packaging, a dermatologist also suggests to switch over to a washable facial cloth made out of muslin for your face cleaning and not use single-use wet wipes or cotton pads. Her other suggestions are to go for make-up brushes crafted from sustainable products like bamboo; use dry shampoo as it helps in saving water and apply home remedies.

USE  LESS Products, GLOW MORE

Beauty YouTubers Jovita George and Shweta Vijay have talked about paring down your beauty closet to counter against the hoarding mentality. George says that the hoarding products can actually create the spiral of buying. The idea is to use very less but more effective and good quality products. Just edit your beauty closet with things that you actually use and need. Pick few but also more multi-purpose, multi-correctional products that add less waste to the system. Look for the  2-in-1 products similar to a a lip and cheek stain. Less products = less packaging = less waste.

The need of the hour should be sustainable beauty regimens and skincare. Use natural, organic and plant-based skincare formulations and concoctions that are also better for your skin.” A pro tip that works: when changing your skincare to more earth-friendly picks, first switch to the commonly used items like body wash, shampoo, and lotion – it’d make more impact. Be aware, to also be sensible and practical.

Increasing the vigilance  about sustainable beauty can lead to more responsible consumer choices which will, in turn, encourage manufacturers to develop more environment-friendly products resulting in a virtuous cycle

USE LESS WATER

We have all been told this but it can stand to be repeated: don’t leave the water running, use less water on your skin for effective skin-care.

How to GREEN UP

-Use bar soap. It’s very less in packaging, you can use it entirely and there’s no bottle to throw away. You can also use bar shampoo

– Use even the last drop. Invest in a good quality  beauty spatula to get the last drop of your product

– Use less make-up. Spend more time on getting good skin than using more make-up

– Store products well. With proper storage, your products will last longer. Ideal storage would be a cool, dark place like a fridge or closet.

– Use home cures. India is the treasure trove of all the home cures – dive in.

– Ditch that packaging. A lot of the boutique brands now offer easy pickups of empty bottles.

– Buy local. Buy more local products

– Take a cold shower. It doesn’t strip your skin of natural oils

What To Wear This Monsoon?

Published

on

Monsoons have finally hit the season and it brings a lot of downpour due to which the roads accumulate a lot of dirt and water and the weather turns humid. A person’s desire to look chic and stylish throughout the day is put down because of the downpour. Due to this, it becomes essential to look out for the weather before styling yourself for the day as it is one of the trickiest seasons to stay stylish. But on the other side, Monsoon is a happy and heartwarming season in which you can experiment to look trendy.

Below are some of the monsoon essentials that are a must-have to make you look all trendy and at the same time make you feel comfortable:

COTTON CLOTHING

It becomes difficult to choose the fabric to wear in monsoon as it has an exceptional amount of humidity in the atmosphere. you should consider wearing fabrics which don’t keep you damp in water for a long time and dry up quickly since that can result in bacterial infections due to acid water.  The ideal fabrics would be the Light-weight fabrics such as cotton and synthetic ones as they can dry out easily and won’t stick to your body or require much maintenance. Apart from that can also consider wearing other fabrics like crepe, rayon, polyester, chambray, Cotton and silk blended fabrics are also really light and are ideal for the monsoon season.

FOOTWEAR

During monsoon routes become slippery and pathways get filled with gallons of water which is why wearing the right footwear becomes really essential. The footwear you wear got to have a good grip and should not be prone to slip away easily. One should consider wearing waterproof floaters, slip-on, or strappy sandals to stay comfortable. Resort to smart printed wedges if you love wearing heels as they offer better support while you’re walking.

RIGHT CHOICE OF COLOURS

If you end up getting drenched in the rain a solid color top or shirt works just fine as it saves you transparency. It’s time you ditch the vibrant colors and go for dark colors like dark purple, maroon, electric blue as all of these shades turn out to be pretty soothing and classy when it comes to clothing. As nothing could save you from unpredictable weather you’ve got to avoid white this season as it is most prone to transparency.

KEEP IT SHORT

It’s time to take your shorts, dresses, and all breezy clothes out as nothing can beat the monsoons as they do. You don’t want to leave your ankles and legs to get damp and wet with streets full of puddles of water. Flaunt a cool top with a pair of culottes, khaki shorts, denim skirts or calf-length pants/trousers. To save the nightmare of the lower getting dirty from the edges wear cropped trousers rather than the long length ones.  Go for midi skirts for a fabulous look and rock the outfits in monsoons as well.

Make the best use of your monsoon wardrobe by playing with different colors and choosing the right fabric which will ultimately make you feel comfortable and look stylish at the same time.
